Feeling Anxious

Anxiety feels like uncontrollable fear or worry. It is normal to feel anxiety at stressful times in our lives such as when we take exams, have a job interview or are doing something we have not done before. You may not know why you are anxious. It is when anxiety becomes uncontrollable that you should look into ways of managing it. Below are some tips and techniques you can use to support you to manage your anxiety. Try using these ideas to support your recovery. You may find that not every technique suits you but try them out and see what works for you.

Anxiety can affect anyone regardless of their age, gender or situation. Anxiety can affect all parts of your life and may cause you to change your routines and avoid doing what you usually do. This is a vicious circle and can cause your anxiety to get worse.

Anxiety affects your body and your mind and you may notice you have an increased heart rate, faster breathing, dizziness, poor sleep, and that you sweat and fidget more when you are anxious.

Anxiety affects your mind by making you feel tired, upset, worried, shaky, unable to concentrate, irritable, on edge and tearful.
