Independent advocacy is about speaking up for, and standing alongside individuals or groups, and not being influenced by the views of others. Fundamentally it is about everyone having the right to a voice, addressing barriers and imbalances of power, ensuring that an individual’s rights are recognised, respected, and secured.
This is our first edition of the Joint Angus Advocacy Strategic Framework. You can access this through the link below. It outlines independent advocacy services commissioned by Angus Health and Social Care Partnership and Angus Council, as well as other commissioned services that provide advocacy support along with their other functions. Commissioned services are those paid for by Angus Council or Angus Health and Social Care Partnership that are available to support people to have better and more independent lives.
There are many pieces of legislation which detail the duties on Integration Authorities and Local Authorities to provide advocacy services to those with mental ill health, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions, children and young people as well as carers.
We would appreciate your feedback on our draft Framework. Please use the link below to access to the full framework and questionnaire or the easy read versions of these.
